“Protein” is a word we hear about every day and it’s all health enthusiasts and gym-goers seem to talk about! We’re always told how important it is for our diet, and that we need a high enough level of it in our bodies to keep healthy. The question is: just how much should we be consuming and how do we go about including this into our daily meals?
Read on to find out just how much protein you should be implementing it into your diet and how AC can help towards this.
Protein is present in your entire body, from your hair, skin, nails, muscles and tissue - it’s everywhere! They break down into essential amino acids which are needed to help the body heal and repair. In fact, Collagen itself is the most prevalent protein in the body, amounting to 70% of your skin content.
Our collagen supplement contains a stellar 6.8g of protein in each sachet and is regarded as a “high-protein” food. But what exactly does this mean and what is considered as being high in protein?
A high protein meal is something with over 20g of protein in it. If you eat a high protein meal with more than 20g of protein, we suggest taking your Absolute Collagen either an hour before consuming this meal, or taking it an hour after.
The reason for this is because you will not experience the maximum benefits of your collagen and it can be classed as too much protein to consume in one go.
So, now that we know what a high protein meal is, how much protein should we be consuming in a day?
According to the National Health Service (NHS), most adults need to have 0.8g of protein per kilogram of their body weight. So for example, someone who weighs 70kg would need to ingest 56 grams of protein per day. However, these requirements are an average guideline and protein requirements are subjective for everyone depending on health and illnesses.
As Absolute Collagen itself is a rich protein source with each mighty sachet containing 6.8g of protein, 95% of the energy (kCal) of the sachet actually comes from protein!
This means you can take your daily dose of AC and benefit from a fantastic source of protein intake.
Now that you know an average of how much protein you should be consuming per day, all that’s left to do is take your AC!
